In a clash of Super Eagles strikers in the Chinese Super League, Brown Ideye scored in the second half as Tianjin Teda settled for a 1-1 draw against Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai Sunday.
Ideye, who completed a shock switch to TEDA in January, got his second league goal a minute into the second period to cancel out Sun Jie’s 16th minute opener for Yatai.
It was a ninth league appearance for the Nigerian international in the Chinese Super League this season as his compatriot John Obi Mikel continues to recuperate on the sidelines after a surgery to correct a back injury.
Ighalo failed to add to his two league goals this campaign despite playing the entire 90 minutes, and he was cautioned in the 76th minute, Goal writes.
The draw leaves Changchun Yatai 13th on the Chinese Super League log ahead of their visit to Hebei China Fortune F.C on May 27 while Tianjin TEDA, placed 11th, next visit Tianjin Quanjian the same day.
Both Ideye and Ighalo have been snubbed by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the coming friendly internationals against Corsica and Togo, as well as the commencement of qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in June.
