Real have been sniffing around Eden Hazard, but according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, they are keen on Kante.
Zinedine Zidane is believed to have instructed president Florentino Perez to make a move.
It is thought he is keen to avoid a situation again whereby Casemiro has missed large chunks of the season through injury.

It is believed the midfielder could fetch around £40m in the summer.
21:45: Faustino Asprilla has slammed Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane for his handling of Manchester United target James Rodriguez.
“They bought him because he scored in a World Cup, because he can make goals, because he was able to score and because he was able to assist,” Asprilla told ESPN.
“They bought him because he was going to turn into a winger. You must play where you know well.
“James isn’t a winger, what are you expecting of him?
“He cannot recover the same amount of balls than that big lump called Casemiro.
Chelsea are interested in signing Aleksandr Golovin
“You simply cannot ask that of a player like James.”
18:30: Leicester have confirmed Marcin Wasilewski will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old exits after four years at the King Power Stadium.
“Marcin will depart with the very best wishes of the Board, management, players and staff of Leicester City, whom he has served with distinction in the last four years,” a club statement read.
“He will always be welcome back as a guest, as a visiting player or as a friend of the Club.”
15:35: Ronald Koeman has heard nothing official about Romelu Lukaku leaving Everton in the summer.
“I expect that he will stay because until now I did not hear anything from the board that one club is asking about Lukaku,” Koeman said.

Chelsea are interested in landing Lukaku in a big-money deal this summer.
14:20: Tottenham are planning to re-sign Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to reports.
The London Evening Standard claim Spurs are willing to make a £25million bid for the Iceland international.

The Toffees are said to be demanding £50million for the England international which could scupper a move to White Hart Lane.
Everton want to keep Romelu Lukaku
14:00: Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev says Monaco won’t accept even £85million for Kylian Mbappe.
Manchester United and Real Madrid want to sign the Frenchman.
“Kylian Mbappe has no price. If he wants to leave then we’ll discuss it,” he told Maxifoot.
“Are we ready to refuse an offer of €100m? Of course, no doubt!
“We want to keep him for at least one more season so he can continue his formidable progression and help us dream bigger.
“Our wish is to extend Mbappe’s contract, that’s a certainty.
“We’ve said to all the players that we won’t talk about the future before the end of the season.
“I insist no player has talked about his future, not one. We’ve all been focused, otherwise we wouldn’t have won this title.”
13:20: David Stockdale has turned down a new contract with Brighton amid transfer interest from Chelsea and Leeds United.
The Daily Mirror claim he will leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Zouma has struggled to make his mark under Antonio Conte this season, making just nine Premier League appearances.

It is suggested that they are interested in a season-long deal as they look to bolster their ranks and mount a Ligue 1 title charge next season.
The French side were apparently wanting to bring him to the club on a permanent basis but Chelsea have refused to part – with a loan deal being the maximum they will offer.
03:55: Monaco will reportedly hand Kylian Mbappe a contract extension in the coming days.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United with Jose Mourinho keen to bolster his ranks ahead of next season.
But it appears as if he could be set to miss out on one of Europe’s fastest rising stars.
French outlet RMC claim he and Falcao will be handed new deals as the principality club bid to ward off interest from potential suitors like United.
20-year-old Davinson Sanchez has impressed hugely during his first season at Ajax

Bernabeu president Florentino Perez wants the Ajax defender, 20, to fill the void set to be left by James Rodriguez.
With the Colombia star looking to go, having struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane, his compatriot Sanchez would help cover his loss in the market for Madrid.
Ajax want £21.5million for the centre-half who Barcelona have been tracking for almost a year, but the Catalan giants are not so sure on his valuation.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon though, Madrid see it as a bargain.

And French outlet Canal+ suggest United have now moved ahead of the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign the Portugal international.
Canal+ say the Red Devils have completed the necessary groundwork after holding informal discussions between the relevant parties in recent weeks.
Sanchez is attracting interest from Chelsea having failed to agree a new contract with Arsenal
00.25: Liverpool have held talks with Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports.
Bakayoko is one of the most sought after midfield talents with Manchester United and Chelsea also interested in the France international.
However, French outlet RMC claim Liverpool are the latest club to enter the race after holding talks with Bakayoko’s representatives over a transfer to Anfield.
But Liverpool’s attempts at securing his signature could be left in vain with United and Chelsea apparently leading the race.
The report adds Chelsea have held positive talks and are preparing a £37.8million bid.
But RMC reckon Conte will up his offer to £43m.

“Last year we tried to do something like that,” Bilic added.

“Italy is a beautiful country which he likes a lot. The standard of life is very good and Serie A is very competitive,’ Seluk told TMW.
“At the moment, there is nothing definite or anything already underway with any club in particular, but we are open to everything. We are ready to listen to any kind of offer, then obviously we will evaluate things.

6.50pm: Moussa Sissoko admits it hasn’t quite gone to plan for him during his first season at Tottenham and says he’ll consider his options in the summer.
“It’s true that I was expecting a lot more minutes this season,” he said.

“Of course, I’m disappointed, but the manager has choices to make and I have to respect them.
“For me, what’s most important is the team. We had a good year, we finished second. There’s the game against Hull next, the France squad, and then I’ll have time to think, to ask myself the right questions and we’ll see then. We’ll have to see what’s best for me and try to make a choice. Next year is a World Cup year.”
Tottenham transfer news: Moussa Sissoko could consider his future at Spurs this summer
6.30pm: Wojciech Szczesny is due to return to Arsenal when his loan spell comes to an end with Roma this summer.
But he certainly has no regrets about leaving north London to try his hand at Serie A.
“I could have stayed in an environment that was going negatively for me. Instead the opportunity that came gave me a fresh start,” he told The Guardian.
“You get a new perspective. You get new coaches and influences. You learn new drills. You do new things.
“Now I am very happy that it happened, even if the first impression was that I might be out of Arsenal, which was very painful. Now I think it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.”

“We are delighted Pascal has opted to sign for us, amid interest from a number of clubs from the Premier League and across Europe, and I am pleased to welcome him to the club,” he told the club’s official website.

He added: “We are a club without financial problems and we have money to spend, but it makes sense to think before we spend and that is what we are doing.”
Could one of them be Kylian Mbappe? Reports in Spain yesterday claimed Liverpool had made a £64m bid for the Monaco sensation.
