Spurs fans will be stunned!
If you are Bayern Munich this summer, you have to replace at least two legends of the European game.
Both Phillip Lahm and Xabi Alonso will retire at the end of the season which comes this Saturday.
Bayern Munich play Freiburg at the Allianz Arena and will bid farewell to Lahm and Alonso as well as lift the Bundesliga trophy.
Paulinho to replace Xabi Alonso
Reports have emerged in Brazil that Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on replacing Xabi Alonso with Paulinho.
This comes as a surprise since Paulinho is a box-to-box midfielder and Xabi Alonso is one that sits deep and sprays passes forward.
Nevertheless, this surprising rumour appears to have some legs on it.
Paulinho’s agent Giuliano Bertolacci is expected in China in the coming days to discuss Bayern Munich’s interest in Paulinho with his club Guangzhou Evergrande.
Explaining Ancelotti’s interest
After failing in Europe on two occasions now, Ancelotti’s decision to pursue Paulinho has raised eyebrows.
But, the Italian has been swayed by Paulinho’s performances for Brazil since Tite became the manager of the South American giants.
Paulinho is a key man in the Brazil side now and scored a famous hat-trick against Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier in March.
The Brazilian midfielder has also played well in China and recently renewed his contract until 2020.
Paulinho drops a major hint on moving to Bayern
Not long after the rumours started, Paulinho dropped a major hint on Instagram about his interest in joining Bayern Munich.
The former Spurs midfielder started following Bayern Munich on Instagram.
Paulinho, up until now, only followed clubs he had played for, such as Corinthians, Tottenham and Guangzhou Evergrande.
