The Croatia international was linked to a €50 million move to the Chinese Super League side, but they have ruled out returning for him
Tianjin Quanjian say they will not try to sign Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina in the next transfer window.
The 29-year-old striker was linked to a move to the Chinese Super League just a few months ago, with Tianjin said to be ready to match his €50 million release clause.
Owner Shu Yuhui recently revealed the club have secured pre-contract agreements with three big names ahead of next season, sparking reports Kalinic could be one of them.
The Croatia international passed up on the chance initially, but now it is the Chinese side who say there is no chance of the deal happening.
“The player that we plan to buy is not Kalinic,” a club spokesperson for Tianjin told Chinese media.
“He is not under consideration and we will not make a summer approach for him whatsoever.”
The ex-Dnipro forward has scored 19 goals in 40 games in all competitions this season and is contracted to the Viola until 2019.
